Unprocessed fats are fats that are still in their natural states. Some of the best examples of these good fats are those found in avocado, olive oil, almonds, and flax seed oils.

Unprocessed fats serve 5 important functions:
  1. Building cell membranes
  2. Helping the body produce hormones
  3. Raising your metabolism and keeping your energised
  4. Protecting your body by neutralising acids
  5. Providing lubrication, so that cells can move freely

In order to get the maximum benefits of the air you breathe in, you need to learn how to breathe while using proper technique. You need to learn to breathe with your diaphragm.

To train yourself to breathe properly, try this breathing technique from Tony Robbins’ Living Health Programme. All you need to do is to take 10 Power Breaths 3 times every day. This is how to take 1 Power Breath. When fats are processed, they can become unstable and toxic to the body. They can increase acidity which, in turn, can make your body more susceptible to disease. They also reduce blood circulation, leading to higher blood pressure. Finally, processed fats can affect your bowel movements, and create excess congestion.

This is not to say that you should cut out all fats and oils from your diet. Your body needs good fats, such as essential fatty acids. Unfortunately, the body is not able to use processed fats as effectively as good, unprocessed fats.

Examples of bad, processed fats include butter, margarine, cheese, whole milk, and meats.

For the first 10 days of the challenge, focus on eating more unprocessed fats. One way to do this is by adding fresh olive oil to your meals. It’s an especially great idea to add it to your vegetables. For example, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper combined make for a delicious salad dressing.

For the last 10 days of the challenge, commit to reducing or even completely eliminating fats from your diet. Where possible, replace the processed fats with an unprocessed alternative.
