Unfortunately, many aren’t proud of their career choice due to societal and cultural norms. They’re often perceived as low-income individuals, low education background, with limited options in life, contrary to the general expectation of success.
This perception is a limiting belief. Our team at Whistle Clean comes from diverse backgrounds, this including
👩💼👨💼 9-5 professionals
👩🍳👨🍳 Chefs
👩🏫👨🏫 Teachers
👨💼💼 small business owners
👩👦👦👨👦👦 mum and dads
However, these limiting beliefs can profoundly impact cleaners’ self-esteem, self-worth, and sense of purpose. During one interview, I asked, “What’s important for you in life?” He responded, “I’m just a cleaner. What do you mean what’s important in life?” It was heartbreaking to hear. In that interview, I realized he:
– Worked in a micromanaged environment for 40 years.
– Depended on others for his self-worth and happiness.
– Suffered from low self-esteem and confidence.
– Completely surrendered his authority.
Sadly, many cleaners have internalized this identity, waiting for another job, hoping it will be better and that they will receive better treatment.
This experience fueled my determination to redefine the role of cleaners.
We’re on a mission to change that perception collectively as a society. Cleaners work hard and dedicate themselves to this role, yet they struggle with financial stability, harmonious work environments, and fair treatment. We want to redefine the perspective of cleaners and highlight their importance.
At Whistle Clean Australia, this is how we define them.
“Cleaners bring light, oxygen, clarity and harmony into each space we enter, leaving behind clear energy for people to create from a fresh perspective. We leave spaces that are cleansed, energised, uplifted and refreshed allowing for new vision and new creation in the world.”
Join us in making collective shifts. Let’s start by showing our appreciation:
“Thank you for your hard work.”
“You make a difference for us.”
“This place looks amazing, thanks to you.”
Together, we can redefine the role of cleaners and honor their invaluable contributions to our communities.
One person at a time.
